“No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead he puts it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light” Luke 11:33
It has been told that a long time ago, a nobleman decided to build a church for the village. After it was built, the villagers agreed it was indeed a beautiful church but they asked “Where are the lamps in the building?” The nobleman smiled. Then he gave each family a lamp. “Each time you are here, the area in which you sit will be lighted. But when you are not here, some part of God’s house will be dark.”
We will soon be celebrating the birth of Jesus. With Jesus’ birth, the world received new light. Through Jesus, as Christians, we are to be a light for others. So let us think and pray about letting our light shine. Let God send us in a new direction today. The world is big, and our lamp may be small, but we can be a light for some small part of our world. We don’t want our part being dark.
Father, I thank you for your son Jesus, who came to teach us and to give us hope and light. Help to guide us to be a light for others. Bless each one of us now, in Jesus’ name. Amen
